Patients with metastatic epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) T790M mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have progressed on or after EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy can be treated with Osimert. This is determined by an authorized test.
Why is this drug given to the patient?
Osimertinib is given to people following the surgical removal of one or more tumors from a specific kind of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This treatment is intended to help reduce the risk of cancer coming back. In adult patients with a certain subtype of NSCLC that has already progressed to other areas of the body, it is also utilized as an initial therapeutic option. Osimert 80 mg tablet is also used to treat certain forms of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that have progressed to other parts of the body in individuals who were unable to be successfully treated with other chemotherapy drugs that were similar to those used in the treatment.
Osimertinib is considered to be a member of the class of drugs known as kinase inhibitors. It does this by inhibiting the action of an aberrant protein, which is what causes cancer cells to proliferate and cause the disease. This prevents or significantly slows the spread of cancer cells and may also assist in the reduction in the size of tumors.
Osimert 80 mg tablet could come with certain unwanted consequences. Inform your physician if any of the following symptoms persist for an extended period of time or are particularly severe:
diarrhea
